The cruise control Switch did not fit my 2001 Ford Focus ZX3 out of the box. The switches plug did not match my car's plug so I removed the plug ends on the switches and re-installed the new switches with the old plug. To remove and replace the switches.(1) I started the car and rotated the steering wheel 90 degrees, this exposes two 5.5 mm screws at 12 and 6 oclock positions (2) I shut the car off and disconnect the car's battery cables and waited about a half hour so when removing the airbag it did not go off in my face.(3) Then I loosened the two 5.5 mm screws (The screws do not come out they stay in the wheel).(4)With the help of a plastic interior tool I removed the airbag assy. that was held on with three plastic clips but I did not unplug the airbag electrical connector.(5) I removed the old switches that are held on with four screws and swapped the plugs. Wire colors Red, gray and black were the same and the ops check of system was normal.
