The appreciation of anything is subjective.I wondered at times if I was enjoying this book because, like the author, I am passionate about motorcycles and music. I am certain though that a few shared interests with the author do not a good book make. If we are going to be really picky, I must also confess to not being that keen about the IOM TT races, and I've also never really understood the appeal of Bob Dylan. Or Bruce Springsteen, come to that. This book is brilliant simply because it is brilliantly written, in an engaging and thoroughly entertaining way. There is something here for everyone, whether you have heard of The Boy Kershaw or not. I defy anyone to read it and not be completely and utterly entertained. As I said, enjoyment is subjective - no one is going to argue that Kershaw is the new Shakespeare. If however, your criteria for a book is that it should captivate you from the first page to the last, make you laugh out loud, make you cry, and then make you thump the table for the occasional pointless futility of our world, then this is the book for you.I cannot remember who recommended it to me, but I am unconditionally recommending it to you. This is the best book that I have read for many, many years.
